Tooth
Wear
Whilst
gum disease and tooth decay are the problems people usually
consider when thinking about their teeth, more frequently dentists
are having to treat patients with tooth wear problems.
Tooth
wear occurs when teeth loose tissue and this is usually due
to mechanical or chemical wear, or a combination of both. The
two most common complaints are firstly sensitivity to hot, cold
or sweet foods and secondly teeth getting smaller at the front
of the mouth.
There are different reasons why this can happen, for example exposure to acidic drinks or tooth grinding, and there are different treatment options available accordingly such as crowns or night guards.
Mr Jones has a keen interest in the management of these types of cases and attends the Dental Hospital weekly to carry out treatment on patients, and to continue to gain experience in this area.
