DENTAL EMERGENCIES 

At Bealby and Jones we aim to see all registered patients with dental emergencies quickly. 

 

Dental Emergencies include:

 

  • Unusual or excessive bleeding

  • Trauma/ Injury to face, mouth or teeth

  • Swelling

  • Severe dental pain not controlled by over the counter pain relief 

WHEN TO ATTEND A&E

Most dental emergencies do not require A&E treatment.

 

Go to A&E if you have toothache and: 

  • The area around your eye or neck is swollen

  • Swelling in your mouth or neck is making it difficult for you to breathe, swallow or speak

Emergency Treatment outside of working hours:

Please call NHS 111

The NHS 111 service is staffed by qualified advisors and healthcare professionals who will be able to direct you to your best course of action. 

If you do require Emergency Out Of Hours Treatment, please inform us and one of dentists will assess if you may require any additional treatment

PRACTICE PLAN PATIENTS 

If you are a registered Practice Plan Patient, you are also covered by the Worldwide Dental Emergency Assistance Scheme. 

This is a discretionary scheme, from which you may be eligible to request assistance from the Scheme in the event of a Dental Trauma and/or Dental Emergency. 

Before seeking treatment, we recommend obtaining pre-authorisation. This helps to determine if an event or incident would be covered under the Scheme.

UNREGISTERED PATIENTS

Our ability to offer emergency treatment for non-registered patients will depend on the level of demand from registered patients. Unfortunately, we have to give registered patients priority. 

We are not able to guarantee emergency appointments for non-registered patients. 

We will apply private charges for this service.
