Do you offer treatment under the NHS?

We offer NHS treatment for children under the age of 18, after which they are able to join our Practice Plan monthly payment schemes.

I have no teeth, so why do I need to come for a check-up?

Accepted Answer

At a dental examination it is not just your teeth that we examine but also the soft tissues (gums, cheeks, tongue, lips and palate) for any abnormalities. If you wear dentures then we check to ensure that they are still well fitting and functioning correctly.

I am very nervous about going to the dentist, can you help me?

At Bealby & Jones Dental Practice we make every effort to put you at ease. We have created a practice environment that will help you to relax from when you first enter the building and meet our reception staff through to your initial consultation where the dentist will listen carefully to your concerns and dental problems, assisted by their dental nurse.

Bealby & Jones Dental Practice was established in 1987 on Northumberland Road in Broomhill, Sheffield. We have been providing dental care to the local community for nearly 40 years. Dr Howard Jones has led the practice since its founding and brings over 40 years of clinical experience.

What is composite bonding and how long does it last?

Composite bonding is a cosmetic dental treatment in which a tooth-coloured resin is applied directly to the teeth to improve their shape, size, colour, or surface texture. It is minimally invasive and can typically be completed in a single appointment. With proper care, composite bonding can last between 3 and 7 years. At Bealby & Jones Dental Practice, composite bonding is performed by Dr James Davies and is priced from £345 per tooth.

Do you offer children's dental care?

Yes. We provide dental care for patients of all ages, including children. We recommend a child's first dental visit by their first birthday, or within six months of their first tooth appearing. NHS dental treatment is available for children under the age of 18. After the age of 18, patients can join our private membership plans. Our gentle, unhurried approach ensures children feel comfortable and at ease from their very first visit.

Our fees vary by treatment. As a guide: a dental examination is £60, composite bonding starts from £345 per tooth, professional teeth whitening is £350, Invisalign starts from £3,000, and dental implants start from £2,400. Do you have a dental plan or membership scheme?

Yes. We offer five monthly membership plans ranging from £7.79 to £28.60 per month, depending on the level of care you need. All plans include dental examinations, hygiene appointments, necessary X-rays, a 20% discount on general dentistry, and access to Worldwide Dental Assistance. Our Cosmetic Care Plan also includes EMS Airflow hygiene appointments and top-up whitening syringes. Plans are paid monthly by direct debit.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Your first appointment is a new patient consultation (£75). We will carry out a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and soft tissues, including X-rays where clinically indicated. We will discuss your dental history, any concerns you have, and your oral health goals. After the examination, we will explain our findings clearly and recommend a personalised treatment plan. There is no obligation to proceed with any treatment at this stage.

How often should I visit the dentist for a check-up?

For most patients, we recommend a dental check-up every six months. However, the frequency may vary depending on your individual oral health — some patients benefit from more frequent visits, while others may only need to attend annually. Our team will advise you on the most appropriate recall interval following your examination.
